The morning sun slipped through the curtains of Y/N's bedroom, filling the room with a soft golden glow. Her first day of college had finally arrived, and despite how excited she had been for this moment, she had spent the last twenty minutes standing in front of her mirror, changing her hairstyle and checking her outfit again and again.
Y/N looked at herself one last time before grabbing her bag. She was nervous. Not because she was afraid of college itself, but because everything was going to be new. New classes, new classmates, new friends, and a completely different routine. She had always wondered what college life would be like, and now she was finally about to find out.
Just as she reached for the door, a familiar voice came from downstairs.
Yoongi: "Y/N! Are you planning to graduate before you even leave the house?"
Y/N rolled her eyes.
Y/N: "I'm coming!"
She quickly grabbed her phone and hurried downstairs, where she found Yoongi standing near the front door with his car keys in one hand and a piece of toast in the other. He looked completely relaxed, as if today were just another ordinary day.
Y/N stopped in front of him and looked at his expression.
Y/N: "That's it?"
Yoongi raised an eyebrow.
Yoongi: "What?"
Y/N: "It's my first day of college, and you're just standing there eating toast."
Yoongi glanced at the toast in his hand before looking back at her.
Yoongi: "Do you want me to throw a graduation ceremony for you?"
Y/N lightly hit his arm.
Y/N: "Oppa!"
Yoongi laughed and gently fixed the strand of hair that had fallen across her face.
Yoongi: "You look nice."
Y/N smiled.
Y/N: "Really?"
Yoongi: "Yeah. Now stop worrying so much."
Y/N picked up her shoes and sat down to put them on.
Y/N: "What if nobody talks to me?"
Yoongi leaned against the wall.
Yoongi: "Then talk to someone."
Y/N: "What if they don't like me?"
Yoongi: "Then find someone who does."
Y/N: "What if I get lost?"
Yoongi smiled.
Yoongi: "Call me."
Y/N looked up at him.
Y/N: "What if I call you too much?"
Yoongi: "Then I'll complain about it and answer anyway."
Y/N laughed. That was exactly why she loved having Yoongi as her brother. He always made everything feel less frightening.
They had always been close. Y/N told him almost everything, from the smallest silly things that happened during her day to the things she couldn't tell anyone else. Yoongi was more than just her older brother. He was the person she trusted most.
As they walked toward the car, Y/N suddenly stopped.
Y/N: "Wait!"
Yoongi turned around.
Yoongi: "What now?"
Y/N held out her fist.
Y/N: "You forgot something."
Yoongi stared at her for a second before realizing what she meant. He smiled and bumped his fist against hers.
Yoongi: "Good luck, kid."
Y/N: "Thanks, old man."
Yoongi shook his head.
Yoongi: "Get in the car before I leave you here."
Y/N laughed as she climbed into the passenger seat.
The drive to the university was filled with their usual conversation. Y/N talked excitedly about the classes she had chosen and the clubs she wanted to explore, while Yoongi listened and occasionally gave her advice. Every few minutes, Y/N would suddenly remember something else and start talking again, and Yoongi patiently listened to all of it.
When they finally reached the university, Y/N became quiet.
She stared through the car window at the huge campus in front of them. Students were walking everywhere, some laughing with their friends, others rushing toward their classes with books in their arms.
Y/N took a deep breath.
Y/N: "I'm actually doing this."
Yoongi smiled.
Yoongi: "You are."
Y/N turned toward him.
Y/N: "You'll still answer my calls, right?"
Yoongi looked at her as if the question itself was ridiculous.
Yoongi: "Of course I will."
Y/N: "Even if I call you ten times?"
Yoongi: "I'll answer the eleventh."
Y/N smiled.
Yoongi reached over and gently messed up her hair.
Yoongi: "Go enjoy your first day. And don't spend the whole day worrying about whether everyone will like you."
Y/N fixed her hair and smiled.
Y/N: "I'll try."
Yoongi: "And Y/N?"
She turned toward him.
Yoongi: "If you need me, call me. Doesn't matter what time it is."
Y/N nodded.
Y/N: "I know."
She opened the door and stepped out of the car. Before closing it, she leaned down toward the window.
Y/N: "Love you, Oppa."
Yoongi smiled warmly.
Yoongi: "Love you too, kid."
Y/N closed the door and watched his car disappear down the road. For a few seconds, she stood there alone, surrounded by unfamiliar faces.
Then she took a deep breath.
Y/N: "New beginning."
With a small smile, she turned toward the university and walked through the gates.
She had no idea that this ordinary morning would become the beginning of something she had spent years trying to avoid.
Love.
Because Y/N had never been in a relationship before. She had only experienced one innocent crush when she was younger, and although nothing had ever happened between them, the embarrassment of having her feelings exposed had been enough to make her build a wall around her heart.
Since then, whenever she felt herself becoming interested in someone, she immediately stepped back.
She had promised herself she would never let herself fall for anyone.
She thought that promise would be easy to keep.
She was wrong.
Because somewhere inside that university was a boy who would slowly make her question everything she believed about love.
And his name was Kim Taehyung.
